A recent Channel 7 investigation raised concerns about some low-cost imported windows and doors entering the Australian market.
Independent testing commissioned by Australian industry representatives found that seven of eight imported aluminium window and door samples tested did not meet the minimum performance requirements specified for the projects.
The testing involved a small sample and does not mean every imported window is unsafe. It does, however, reinforce an important point:
Double glazing alone does not guarantee a quality window.
What Really Matters
A window’s performance depends on the complete system, including:
- Frame construction
- Glass specification
- Seals, locks and hardware
- Manufacturing quality
- Correct installation
- Suitability for local conditions
- Compliance with relevant Australian requirements
A cheaper initial price may not represent better value if quality, performance or compliance is compromised.
Melbourne Made. Built to Australian Standards.
Winplex windows and doors are made to measure in Melbourne, giving greater visibility over manufacturing, quality control and installation.
Local manufacturing also makes it easier to verify product specifications and compliance with relevant Australian standards and requirements.
Before You Buy
Ask your supplier:
- Where are the windows manufactured?
- Do they meet the relevant Australian standards?
- What compliance documentation can be provided?
- Who is responsible for installation and after-sales support?
Watch the Channel 7 report to understand why product quality, origin and compliance matter when choosing windows for your home.
